De binnenstad ligt als het ware
ingesloten in een lus van de Nidelv.
Jarenlang was er maar één brug die
toegang gaf tot de binnenstad.
-the old town bridge-was first build on
this site in 1681.
At the same time, Kristiansten Ford was
under construction.
A sentry and excise houses stood at
either end of the bridge.
The excise house on the west side is
still standing and is in use as a
kindergarte.
The bridge and gates as they now stand
were build in 1861 by Carl Adolf Dahl,
the munucipal officer in charge of public
buildings and works.
Die brug staat er nu nog steeds
en als je erop staat heb je een
mooi uitzicht op de fraai gekleurde
huizen aan de rivier, die half in
het water staan, gesteund door palen.
The oldest of the Wharves along the river
Nidelva date back to the 18th century;
nevertheless, they still give the impression
of the waterfront as it was long before then.
On the seafront, towards the canal we find
wharves that where build more recently,
in the 19th and 29th centuries.
Aan de andere kant van de brug
kronkelen de straatjes zich langs
een heuvel naar boven.
Fietsers hoeven zich geen zorgen
te maken, want speciaal voor hen
is er een fietslift.

je naar boven brengt zonder dat
je hoeft af te stappen.
